The sorceress stood high above her crystal realm, the home of the eerie blue force that gave her power, in the distance a great explosion of energy lit the night sky. She gripped the staff with a sigh: there was so much left to do ...

Well, it appears I have my inspiration back! This was a very quick painting, I relied entirely on my instincts, and the results are almost exactly what I had in mind.

I've just finished reading Julian May's Conqueror's Moon, and the magical element gave me the idea for this. You'd have to stretch your imagination pretty hard to fit this scene into May's story, but if you've read it the title will probably sound familiar :)

Anyhow, I hope you like it ;)

awesome! I like the colors. Those crystals at the far right, where the orange hits the top are especially well done. The only real criticism that i have is, the silhouette of the sorceress. It could be more dynamic. Maybe make the cape blow in the wind a little more? i dunno.

I really like it though. Keep up the good work!

Thanks heaps :) The silhouette was a major pain, I saved out about 5 different versions with slightly differing sorceresses and each time didn't like it, it looked reasonable in the end but yeah, not the most animated woman. I wanted a regal and aloof character, but she came out a bit ... flat.

haha, I know what that's like. Posing characters is tough man.

I'll say :( I've got to get better at cloth too, I think I've been avoiding it so far ...

well, you don't seem to really need it much. Most of your pictures are landscape.

I'm sure you'll be able to get it though with a little bit of practice.
